A serious legal battle has now begun, thrusting high-profile figures into the spotlight. Brian Harpole, who worked security for Charlie Kirk, filed a defamation lawsuit against Candace Owens. The case involves claims Owens made after Kirk was killed. She accused Harpole of having ties to the incident through her podcast and social media posts, according to the complaint.Harpole’s attorney, Matt Sarelson, shared the lawsuit publicly on X. It made clear Harpole and his company had nothing to do with the murder. It also said they had no prior knowledge and no negligence. Still, Owens continued to talk about the possible conspiracy, which is now at the center of this legal dispute.
Brian Harper says Candace Owens spread false claims about Charlie Kirk case, even though records show otherwise
The complaint explains how it started. Shortly after Charlie Kirk’s death, Owens began sharing theories online. She hints that someone close to him may have betrayed him. She also addressed possible government cover-ups. Over time, these claims became more direct. Harper said Owens began pointing at him.During the December 9, 2025 episode of the podcast, Owens told her viewers, “Well, what I’m going to tell you today is going to blow your mind.” She said she received a “solid” tip about a man she later confirmed was named Mitch Snow. This person claimed that Harpole was seen in a meeting with military officials the day before the murder. But the lawsuit vehemently denies this. Harper was allegedly in Dallas, Texas. His travel records bear this out. It also said he had never been to Fort Huachuca at all. Still, Owens kept repeating the claim. She said the news was “very credible” but did not explain why.The situation became even more tense when Owens contacted Harper directly. She asked him for a private conversation. When he didn’t reply, she spoke about his silence on her podcast. She said it looked suspicious. That made things worse and further damaged his reputation, the lawsuit says. One key detail stands out. Owens later posted on X that she had seen Harper’s flight records. This is important because it suggests that she may have known that he was not at that meeting. Even so, she continued to talk about the claim. Harpole’s legal team said it showed a “reckless disregard for the truth”, which is an important part of defamation law.The case now includes six legal counts and seeks millions of dollars worth of damages. A jury trial has been requested. Owens has tried to deny some of the claims on her show and suggested her sources may be wrong. Now, the courts will decide what exactly happened behind the accusations.
