What are the protesters’ demands?
The demonstrations focused on workers’ rights, opposition to immigration crackdowns and criticism of policies seen as benefiting the wealthy. Protesters gathered in places including Washington, D.C., where crowds gathered near the White House holding signs such as “Workers Over Billionaires” and “Health Care, Not War.” New York Times.

Many of the same groups involved in May Day were also involved in the earlier “No King” protests, a movement that opposed what organizers saw as an excessive concentration of power and what they viewed as authoritarian policies. This overlap highlights how different activist movements can come together around shared concerns.
Leah Greenberg of Indivisible, one of the key groups behind No Kings, described the May Day economic blackout as a “structural test” for the movement. “We are asking people to further develop their power in all aspects of life, as workers, as students, as members of local organizing centres,” she said. “This is important because it builds the power of non-cooperation,” she added, according to The Guardian.
