New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi on Saturday trained guns in the state BJP after senior BJP leader Ram Madhav made controversial remarks on India’s oil imports. In a social media post on“Nationalist surrender to Sangh. False nationalism in Nagpur. Pure servility in America,” the Congress leader said.“Ram Madhav has only revealed the true nature of the Sangh,” he added.Earlier, Ram Madhav claimed that India was in trouble by aligning itself closely with US interests by halting oil purchases from Iran and Russia, although these efforts were not recognized by the Trump administration.“We agreed to a 50% tariff,” Madhav said during discussions that included former diplomat Elizabeth Threlkeld and former US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell. Agree means, we don’t say anything. We remain patient. We agreed to impose a 50% tariff. Today, in the new trade deal, we also agreed to raise tariffs by 18% above previous levels. I mean, average tariff. ““So, where is India lagging behind in this regard? On what issues is India not doing enough?” Madhav can be heard saying in the video during an interactive session at the Hudson Institute. The Congress took note of Madhav’s remarks and said Narendra Modi has lost his right to continue as prime minister.KC Venugopal said in a post on X, “A senior RSS leader clearly admitted – PM Modi is dancing to the tune of Washington.”“There was a time when the US 7th Fleet was in the Bay of Bengal and India refused to budge. Today, a compromised Prime Minister handed over Indian sovereignty to the US,” he added. The Congress leader said this is exactly what Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and the entire opposition have been saying. “India has lost its independent voice on the world stage.“After this surrender, Narendra Modi has clearly lost his right to continue as Prime Minister,” Venugopal said in the post. However, Madhav later apologized and said what he said was “wrong as India did not agree to stop oil imports from Russia.” What I said was wrong. India does not agree to stop importing oil from Russia at any time. ““It also strongly protested against the imposition of 50% tariff. I tried to have a limited rebuttal with another panelist. But it was factually wrong. I’m sorry,” Madhav said while sharing the video on X.Madhav and RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabarai are visiting the US and attended an event at the Hudson Institute in Washington.
