Mamata slams Modi, says PM can row in Hooghly instead of Yamuna

Kolkata: Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee sacked prime minister on friday Narendra ModiAn early morning boat ride on the Ganges to take photos for political gain and challenge him to enter Delhi’s “polluted” Yamuna river.“Our Ganga is clean. That’s why the Prime Minister can enjoy the boat ride. Can he do the same thing in Yamuna (Delhi)? ” Banerjee said.“This is electoral politics, building momentum. You take a boat trip on the Ganga; that’s okay, you’re welcome. I go to Chandan Nagar; I also go to Ganga Sagar. But I challenge you – are you willing to swim in the Yamuna in Delhi? The Yamuna in Delhi is completely polluted. You cannot manage the Yamuna in Delhi, but you come to take pictures in our Ganga,” the CM said at a rally in Howrah.Addressing a rally in the port area later, she said, “He (the Prime Minister) should compare the Ganga in Bengal with the Yamuna in Delhi. Our Ganga is clean; that’s why he can indulge in boat rides. This event is nothing but a photo shoot for political gain.”The chief minister termed the Prime Minister’s stay at Jamuli in Jhargram as a “completely staged” act. “Is it believable that he was carrying a 10-rupee note? If you really like Bengal, will you try our fish and rice? I will do it for you,” she said.Addressing another public meeting, TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee called Prime Minister Modi “Bengal’s biggest brand ambassador”. “Why do they come only during polling? They should come to Bengal all year round. Come and enjoy the food here. Because the Prime Minister traveled to make scrolls, people now know how beautiful Bengal is and the development done here by the Mamata government. If he had not campaigned like this, would people have seen that the rivers of Bengal are so clean and beautiful and the roads of Jhargram are so good?” he said.
