Darrell Sheets, known for his long-running role on “Storage Wars,” has died in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, at the age of 67, authorities confirmed Wednesday. According to the Lake Havasu City Police Department, police received a call in the early morning hours of April 22.

Police said Sheets appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

“On April 22, 2026, at approximately 0200 hours, officers with the Lake Havasu City Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 1500 block of Chandler Avenue regarding a reported deceased person. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male subject suffering from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene and the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Suspect Investigation Team was notified and responded to the scene to investigate,” the department said in a release.

The case remains under investigation, officials added.

“The body was ultimately turned over to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation. The male subject has been identified as Darrell Sheets, 67, a resident of Lake Havasu City, and Darrell’s family has been notified. The incident remains under active investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available,” the release continued.

Career and legacy

Sheets is a familiar face to reality TV viewers, appearing in 163 episodes of Storage Wars between 2010 and 2023. He has also guest-starred on Jay Leno’s “The Tonight Show” and the show hosted by Rachael Ray.
