New Delhi: Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee On Monday, the Prime Minister said Narendra ModiUnexpected halt in buying ‘jhalmuri’ during polls is ‘drama’.Her remarks came a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a brief stop during his campaign stop in Jhargram to buy ‘jhalmuri’, a popular Bengali street food made from puffed rice, green chillies and other spices.“This is all drama. How come there are cameras present when the Prime Minister makes an unexpected stop during the election campaign? The entire episode is scripted. He was seen carrying a Rs 10 note in his pocket. Is this believable?” Banerjee said without naming Prime Minister Modi.this Trinamool Congress The (TMC) supremo was addressing a poll rally in Murarai constituency of Birbhum district.After finishing his speech in Jhargram on Sunday, Prime Minister Modi walked up to a stall and said: “Bhai, hume apna jhalmuri khilao (brother, give us your jhalmuri).”As the vendors prepared snacks, Prime Minister Modi held a brief conversation, asking, “Kitne ka hota hai jhalmuri (How much?).” The Prime Minister then reached into the pocket of Nehru’s jacket to pay.The vendor asked, “Aap pyaaz khaate hain (Do you eat onions?),” to which the Prime Minister replied, “Haan, pyaaz khaate hain. Dimag nahi khaate bas (Yes, I eat onions. But I don’t like to irritate people).”The first phase of polling in West Bengal will be held on Thursday for 152 seats. The second and final phase is scheduled for April 29 for the remaining 142 constituencies.Counting will take place on May 4.(PTI input)
