FBI Director’s Lawyer Kashi Patel People have been recruited to help him fight The Atlantic, which published a report accusing him of “alcoholism” and was credited with multiple unsuccessful MAGA-related lawsuits.
Jesse Binnall serves as legal representative for the former company North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson filed an unsuccessful defamation lawsuit against CNN. He was also involved in President Donald Trump’s efforts to reverse the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Binnar warns The Atlantic
“See you in court,” Binnar said on X atlantic A report released on Friday cited sources close to Patel, 46, who said he had raised concerns among officials due to excessive drinking, unpredictable behavior and unexplained absences from work.
Binnar also circulated a letter from Binnar Law Group, of which he is a partner, asking the outlet not to publish the exposé.
In the letter, the lawyer highlighted what he said were false and defamatory claims made by the outlet, including two that The Atlantic chose not to publish.
The first allegation is that Patel was deemed a “threat to public safety,” and the second alleges that he had previously directed his security staff to close the FBI Association store so that he could shop unaccompanied, at one point expressing dissatisfaction that the merchandise was “not scary enough.”
Jesse Binnar Case
Although the report was subject to legal threats, previous cases involving Binnar were unsuccessful. In 2024, Robinson hired Binnall Law Group to file a lawsuit against CNN, initially seeking $50 million in damages, but months later he withdrew the lawsuit in January 2025 and announced his retirement.
Robinson, 57, disputed the report’s assertion that he posted messages on pornographic websites in which he called himself a “black Nazi,” expressed support for slavery and described Martin Luther King Jr. as “worse than a maggot.”
The then-Republican candidate for North Carolina governor said he believed Binnar Legal Group would “leave no stone unturned” and “hold CNN accountable for their lies.”
Robinson chose to abandon legal action after losing the scandal-plagued 2024 gubernatorial election.
In March, Robinson revealed there was “some truth” to the CNN report and admitted to having an “obsession” with porn and sex.
The Atlantic reports on allegations against Kash Patel
The explosive article in The Atlantic cited unnamed sources close to FBI Director Patel, who claimed that FBI Director Patel was worried about his employment status, with one former official saying that he was “really paranoid” because officials said his alleged excessive drinking was a concern.
In February, video footage from the Winter Olympics in Italy captured Patel drinking beer while socializing with the U.S. team, and Trump, 79, reportedly privately rebuked the FBI director after his actions.
Patel also received media attention for allegedly using a taxpayer-funded private jet to travel to Nashville to visit his 27-year-old country singer girlfriend, Alexis Wilkins.
