Mikhaila said the past year has been particularly difficult, with Peterson experiencing severe and persistent symptoms of akathisia. Akathisia is a condition in which a patient is unable to remain still and is characterized by inner restlessness.
The Cleveland Clinic describes akathisia as a known but often undiagnosed side effect of certain psychotropic medications, especially antipsychotics.

“Neurological damage from psychotropic drugs is much more common than people think. I made this video to explain what they are and what akathisia is because they don’t get discussed enough, they are misdiagnosed, nearly untreatable, and hidden by the pharmaceutical industry,” she details.
She also said the experience had been “devastating” for the family and said she did not plan to provide further updates at this time. She wrote: “I do not plan to update again about my father as it will cause stress to my family and myself, and there is nothing to say until the situation gets better.”
Mikhaila also discusses in the video how to deal with Peterson’s symptoms, and reporter‘And the internet is meddling in the details of Peterson’s care. “Not only do we have to deal with missing our dad, being pregnant, caring for him and being very sad. In December 2025, Mikhaila posted another post on Instagram asking for “prayer” for Petreson’s health. Her post came after Peterson was diagnosed with chronic inflammatory response syndrome (CIRS).
“His condition is still not good, but not as bad as before. We still appreciate everyone’s prayers,” she wrote.
She went on to say that although Jordan is receiving treatment from an excellent team of specialists, the family is still unsure of the state of his health.
She announced in August 2025 that he would stop making public appearances to focus on treatment. Months later, he reportedly spent nearly a month in intensive care and isolated from his family for weeks.
