U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has released a new video showing the U.S. Navy changing the course of a commercial ship in the Gulf of Oman, allegedly as part of enforcing restrictions related to Iranian sea lanes. The video, shared on Sailors can also be heard thanking the ships for their cooperation.“Audio from a sailor aboard the USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) 🔊 and video from a helicopter aboard the guided-missile destroyer flying over the Gulf of Oman, where the U.S. Navy rerouted a commercial ship while enforcing a blockade on ships entering and leaving Iranian ports. The U.S. military is prepared to maintain the blockade as long as possible,” it said in a video shared on social media.Central Command said the U.S. military remains prepared to maintain the operation “as long as necessary.” It added that the deployment involves more than 10,000 personnel and multiple naval ships and aircraft as part of wider maritime law enforcement activities in the region’s waters. The command also clarified that the U.S. military was not blocking the Strait of Hormuz, despite continued tensions in the region and claims of a broader blockade. The release comes as geopolitical friction continues in the Gulf, with shipping activities and naval deployments still under close scrutiny.
