According to Pix11, police were called to the area of Baisley Avenue and Merrick Avenue in St. Albans at 6:15 p.m. for a shooting.

Police said they found a 15-year-old man gunfire Chest injury. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital. However, he reportedly succumbed to his injuries.
According to reports, no arrests have been made and no suspect details have been released to the public. The report also pointed out that it is currently unclear what caused the shooting and whether anyone else was injured in the incident.

An eyewitness described what happened and remembered the victim fondly. One said they heard gunshots and “ran over to make sure everyone was okay, especially my friends.” The person went on to say they had seen the victim in the park before. The victim was reportedly considered a good basketball player. “The cool kids,” the witness recalled.
Meanwhile, news of the shooting was also circulating online. “An investigation into a shooting at a local park in St. Albans. The NYPD is at Roy Wilkins Park locally for reports of a dispute that turned into a shooting. Emergency centers are working to transport the man who was shot to a local hospital. The hospital is located near Besley Avenue and Merrick Avenue, which is a very safe community in Queens according to local elected officials,” said a local reporter who identified himself as police. wrote on Facebook. They added, “In addition, it is home to the largest number of gun control violence nonprofit programs, costing taxpayers $13 million per year per agency. Police are currently looking for two suspects who fled in an unknown direction. The investigation remains ongoing.”
