On April 15, Kelly and her husband Brian Hopton-Jones posted on Instagram, “Today is the worst day of our lives. Life can really change in an instant.”
Kelly shared the incident publicly on Instagram, prompting an outpouring of support. She confirmed that the accident occurred when her child accidentally ran behind the car as she was leaving her home.

Who is Kelly Hopton Jones?

According to her websiteshe is a trained pediatric nurse practitioner with a background in healthcare. She earned a nursing degree from James Madison University and later specialized in pediatrics.
Kelly and her husband Brian Hopton-Jones have a boy named Henry and a daughter named Lily. She wrote in a 2025 post, “I met my husband when I was 22. We bought a house together 5 months later. Married at 24. Battled infertility at 30. Had our first child at 32. At 34 we got a surprise.”

In an emotional post on Instagram, Kylie revealed that when she and her daughter left the driveway to attend a dance competition, her young son was walking behind the car.
“I was driving. Our neighbor immediately stepped in and took Lily away and we rushed to the emergency room,” she wrote.
Doctors reportedly assured the family that while the injuries were serious, they were not life-threatening. The child underwent X-rays and CT scans, which showed no serious internal damage.
According to her Instagram post, which she stressed was “a real nightmare for parents,” baby Henry suffered a fractured pelvis and bruises, but is expected to make a full recovery after receiving treatment.
She wrote: “What struck me was the doctor saying, ‘He’s injured, but this is something he can recover from.'” A true miracle. “
Kelly posted multiple photos of herself holding her son’s hand and showing his bandaged arm, as well as photos of Henry recovering in a hospital bed after the incident.
The influential nurse practitioner said “we are shocked” although she was “extremely grateful” her son’s injuries were not permanent. She added: “We are very frustrated.”
Kelly listed numerous “what ifs” that could have prevented her son’s accident and admitted that the experience changed her and her husband forever.
“I keep thinking about what I would tell my own children if this happened to them one day. It would be so much kinder than what we tell ourselves now. Accidents happen, and the only mistakes are the ones we don’t learn from,” she wrote.
