Dr. Randeep S Dhillon, one of the lesser-known Republican candidates in California’s gubernatorial primary, hopes to make the state more affordable. When he released a campaign video ahead of the June primary, he was attacked for his English, and MAGA on social media distanced himself from the Republican Party over his Indian heritage. “Meet Randeep Dhillon who is running for governor of California. His recent campaign ads show him speaking barely any English while claiming he wants to somehow increase literacy in California. No, this is not sarcastic. Yes, it is very real,” a social media post shared of a recent video of Dhillon talking about literacy. Dhillon said if he wins, he will recognize those kids who maintain a 3.87 or 3.93 GPA by supporting them in buying their first car after graduation and awarding them $505. When Dhillon unveiled his MACA plan, he said registration fees would be waived for the first year. “This guy is working on increasing literacy in California, but he can’t speak English to shoot commercials. It’s true,” another social media leader said. “It’s almost funny but also concerning. Who lets these people run for office?” one wrote. “He may not sound fluent, but he’s addressing a problem that most people ignore. That’s what really matters,” one person defending Dhillon wrote, urging people not to judge him based on the way he speaks. Many pointed out how he openly tried to buy votes, promising free cars to 16-year-olds.

He earned bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in finance and economics in California and gained a practical understanding of how families, farmers, workers, and business owners succeed or struggle in the real economy,” his website reads.
