New Delhi: Nitish Kumar is expected to resign as Bihar chief minister on April 14 after chairing the last cabinet meeting, with the first BJP-led government taking over as Union minister in Bihar on Sunday. Shivraj Singh Chauhan Appointed as the central observer of the party for the election of party leaders in the Bihar Legislature. There are indications that Samrat Chaudhry is the frontrunner to be the next chief minister. Chouhan said that he will attend the election of leader by the BJP parliamentarians in Patna on April 14, who will then be elected as the leader of the NDA legislative body, replacing Nitish. Sources said the oath-taking ceremony may be held on April 15 and may be simple with only a few members participating. Nitish’s son Nishant is seen as the deputy chief minister of the JDU as the party looks to preserve the political legacy of its founder and inspire its cadre. The BJP is known for keeping secrets and NDA circles are keen on selecting Nitish’s successor. However, since joining the party in 2018, Samrat is seen as the frontrunner for the party to invest in him.
