Voter turnout in Assam near record 86%, highest rise among Muslim-majority states

Guwahati: Voter turnout in the Assam assembly elections 2026 climbed further on Sunday to nearly 86 per cent, according to the latest update from the Election Commission. This marked the highest turnout in state history, surpassing all-time highs of 84.7% in 2016 and 82% in 2021.
