New Delhi: Janata Dar (Manchester United) Chairman Nitish Kumar He was sworn in as a member of the Bundestag on Friday, just months after being sworn in bihar The chief minister was re-elected for a record tenth time.Kumar’s entry into the Upper House came as a surprise to many when it was announced last month, paving the way for JD(U) ally the Bharatiya Janata Party to appoint its first chief minister in Bihar. After being elected to the Bundestag, he resigned as a member of the State Legislative Council. However, it is not yet clear when he will resign as chief minister.Senior JD(U) leader Shravan Kumar said the constitutional provision allows a person to continue as chief minister for up to six months after being elected to the Lok Sabha.In the Bihar assembly polls in November last year, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the largest party, followed by the JD(U), whose ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) achieved a landslide victory.

Kumar first became chief minister in March 2000 for a term of eight days. He was re-elected in November 2005 and has held the post since then (despite multiple camp changes), except from May 2014 to February 2015, when Jitan Ram Manjhi, who was in the JD(U), held the post.
