The term TACO, or “Trump Always Cowardly,” was coined by Financial Times columnist Robert Armstrong. He coined the phrase in May 2025 to define the pattern of Trump’s second term. It refers to Trump’s tendency to threaten huge trade tariffs or military intervention, but later reverses course.
Trump said the United States had received a 10-point proposal from Iran, which he described as a viable basis for further negotiations. Trump also said in the post that almost all past points of contention between the United States and Iran have been agreed upon. He added that two weeks would allow the agreement to be finalized.
The president laid out changing goals and timelines for the war and reiterated his belief that Washington’s goals have been achieved.
