New Delhi: A 15-year-old girl was stabbed in northeast Delhi’s Seemapuri on Friday and succumbed to her injuries at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital on Saturday morning. The accused, a 24-year-old man, died shortly after a gas cylinder exploded near his residence on Friday night. The girl was pronounced dead at the hospital around 6 a.m. Outside her home, family members recalled how she was attacked while buying medicine at a nearby store. Her grandmother cried sadly and repeated: “Bas 5 min keh kar gayi thi, abhi tak lauti nahi (She left saying she would be back in five minutes; but she has not returned yet).”Her uncle further told TOI that she had been bleeding for more than 20 minutes before rescuers arrived. “The rage and brutality with which she was stabbed was unbelievable. She was stabbed a dozen times,” he said. The teenager had recently appeared for his Class X exams and was awaiting the results.“We are all awaiting her results. We are hopeful for her future,” he said, adding that residents now fear for their safety following the murder. Friends and family remember her as a person who was loved for her kindness. Her aunt said: “We don’t know why someone would want to hurt her. We haven’t got any clear motive.” The girl is survived by her grandmother, mother, father and sister. At the man’s residence about 2 kilometers away, relatives said he committed suicide by triggering an explosion. They described him as an introvert. The man worked as a delivery supervisor for an e-commerce company. His mother said: “He never mentioned anything about the girl or mental health issues, including depression or anger. He keeps to himself most of the time. “
.
The man is believed to have been home alone at the time of the explosion. His mother is at work. His father died 11 months ago.Relatives expressed disbelief at the turn of events. His aunt said: “If he were alive and in prison, he would still be alive for his mother. She has no one else.” While both families denied knowing each other, a senior police officer said, “The two knew each other and were acquaintances. Both families know it. “However, the specific motive is under investigation. It was reported that the two had spoken on the phone before the incident.“They knew each other two years ago when the man’s aunt was a neighbor near the girl’s home,” another police officer said, confirming that the man was believed to have caused the explosion himself. While the girl’s uncle claimed that more men, reportedly drunk, stabbed her multiple times, the officer denied this, saying only one person could be seen in CCTV footage from the scene.
