New Delhi: tamil nadu Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin on Saturday criticized the Center CBSE’s new curriculum framework, calling it a planned attempt at language imposition in favor of Hindi over regional languages.Stalin wrote in a post onHe added, “Under the guise of promoting ‘Indian languages’, the Bharatiya Janata Party-led IGA government is aggressively pursuing a centralizing agenda to privilege Hindi while systematically marginalizing India’s rich and diverse linguistic heritage.”Stalin questioned whether students from Hindi-speaking countries also need to learn languages like Tamil, Telugu or Kannada.“This framework effectively translates into compulsory Hindi learning for students in southern states. However, where is the reciprocity?” he asked, adding that the lack of clarity points to the one-sided and discriminatory nature of the policy. The chief minister also criticized the Center for not enforcing Tamil in Kendriya Vidyalaya schools and not appointing enough Tamil teachers. “This is not a commitment; this is blatant hypocrisy,” he said.Stalin said such policies threaten India’s linguistic diversity and called on the AIADMK and its NDA allies in Tamil Nadu to take a stand. The remarks come as the Central Board of Secondary Education plans to roll out a three-language policy in a phased manner starting from grade 6 from the 2026-27 academic year. Under this policy, students will have to study three languages, at least two of which are Indian languages.
