Olympic academy, Rs 2,000 aid for women, water pumps for farmers: DMK ahead of Tamil Nadu elections mega polls

New Delhi: Congressman Stalin unveiled a slew of welfare promises and development plans at a DMK rally in Tiruchirappalli on Wednesday, positioning them as key promises ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly elections.The DMK chief addressed party workers and voters in central Tamil Nadu, seeking support for party candidates while highlighting his government’s track record and outlining new promises if returned to power.He said development in Tiruchirappalli will be on par with Chennai, signaling a push to spread growth beyond the state capital. Stalin also used the platform to contrast the law and order situation in Tamil Nadu with the BJP-ruled states, claiming stability under his leadership.The chief minister reiterated that his government has fulfilled major assurances, including providing free bus travel to women, and pointed out that welfare measures aimed at education, agriculture and women empowerment were at the core of the DMK’s election campaign.

Stalin’s promises before the vote

  • The Chief Minister’s Breakfast Program will be expanded to cover students up to class 8.
  • The purchase price of sugarcane will be increased to Rs 4,500 per ton.
  • If the DMK returns to power, paddy will be procured at Rs 3,500 per quintal.
  • Two million farmers will be provided with pump sets to meet their irrigation needs.
  • Women beneficiaries will receive assistance of Rs 2,000 per month.
  • College students will receive financial assistance of Rs 1,500 per month.
  • Women will be given coupons worth Rs 8,000 to spend on home appliances of their choice.
  • Around 9 lakh students will continue to receive higher education support of Rs 1,000 per month.
  • Projects such as a large library, TIDEL Park and Olympic Academy will be developed in Tiruchirappalli.
  • The area’s infrastructure will be expanded through initiatives such as mini-stadiums, schools and drinking water projects.

Stalin said his government has ensured “no caste riots in TN, no communal violence in the BJP-ruled states, no mob violence in Uttar Pradesh and no ongoing violence in Manipur” while urging voters to support the DMK for continuity in governance and welfare delivery.
