Tarsem SinghA South Asian man accused of causing a high-speed chase and fatal crash in Ohio that killed 17-year-old Ashley Holmes, who was pregnant at the time, has pleaded not guilty. The accident happened in February when Singh was driving at speeds of 100 miles per hour. The Range Rover Velar driven by Singh collided head-on with a Jeep Cherokee. The driver of the Jeep was injured but conscious and alert. The passenger in the Range Rover Velar, 17-year-old Ashlee Holmes, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead. Singh was taken to an area hospital for his injuries and later arrested.Singer’s bond was set at $1 million. He also faces an asylum case, which means he could be deported if convicted.According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, on February 16, an officer recorded Singer traveling at speeds of 100 miles per hour, leading to a pursuit of approximately 5 miles. The accident occurred when the two vehicles entered SR-47 and Ansonia Hunchbarger Road.When the deputy saw Singer’s car speeding, he turned on his cruiser’s emergency lights and siren, but Singer tried to flee and when Singer accelerated his car, it struck the car with Holmes sitting in the passenger seat. The grand jury indicted Tarsom Singh on two counts of manslaughter, reckless homicide and aggravated vehicular homicide, as well as one count each of vehicular assault and failure to comply with a police order or signal.A report states that Holmes’ family confirmed to the Salm-McGill-Tangeman Funeral Home that Singer was the father of Holmes’ child.
