According to CNN, U.S. Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement, “At approximately 8:30 a.m. Friday, an on-duty U.S. Secret Service agent suffered non-life-threatening injuries due to negligence while handling military-style weapons at Philadelphia International Airport while performing protective duties.”
He added that the injured agent received medical attention at the airport and “is being evaluated at an area hospital and is in stable condition.”

A spokesperson said that while the first lady was at the airport, she was not present when the incident occurred. No one else was injured, Guglielmi added.
“The protected persons’ movements were not affected and they were not present at the time of the incident. There were no reports of any other injuries and the agent is being evaluated at a regional hospital and is in stable condition,” AFP quoted a spokesman as saying.
The incident will reportedly be investigated by the U.S. Secret Service’s Office of Professional Responsibility and may raise questions about the stress of working at the agency.
Jill Biden attended the opening night of a new off-Broadway play called “Public Responsibility” on Wednesday, created by her former chief of staff Julissa Reynoso.
