’70-80% of politicians watch…’: Pappu Yadav sparks fresh controversy a day after ‘bedroom’ sexist remarks

New Delhi: A day after sparking controversy over his sexist “bedroom” remark, independent Bihar MP Pappu Yadav on Wednesday sparked fresh controversy when he issued a clarification.Yadav defended his previous remarks, saying that 70 to 80 per cent of politicians watch pornography. Responding to a notice issued by the Bihar Women’s Commission over his remarks, he said: “I have also said in the House that 70-80 per cent of politicians watch porn.“So, let everyone check it. If I have pornography on my phone, check me too. Who are these people who sent me notifications? Who are they with? There are several pictures of the former minister. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones,” he added.Earlier on Tuesday, a Bihar MP said women will never be respected in politics.“In India, women are called goddesses but here they are never respected. The system and society are responsible for this. Who is condoning domestic violence? Who is preying on women – politicians from the US to India! Ninety percent of women cannot join politics without going to the rooms of male leaders,” he said.ALSO READ | ‘90% women cannot enter politics unless…’: Pappu Yadav’s ‘bedroom’ slur sparks big controversy; BJP seeks action“The culture of exploiting women is deeply ingrained.
