The 32-year-old suspect was shot and killed by the only responding deputy, authorities said. Tacoma Police Officer Shelby Boyd said it’s unclear the relationship between the suspect and the victim.

“There were four deceased, including the 32-year-old male suspect, and the fifth victim was immediately transported by the Gig Harbor Fire and later died from his injuries,” the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office said. said in a Facebook post.

What we know so far about the attack

Police initially responded to reports of violations of the no-contact order around 8:40 a.m. However, before arriving, they were informed that the order was not actually valid because it had not yet been delivered.

“In order for the violation to be valid, the individual must have been served with a notice of service to know that the judge has barred them from contact and what those requirements or conditions are,” Boyd said.

Police are unsure who the first caller was to report the stabbing. However, Boyd said she believed “this was someone who understood the order.”

The investigation is being led by the Pierce County Troopers Investigation Team. Police said the scene remained “very active” and they were working to identify the victims.
