Iran also responded with sweeping threats. Military spokesman Ibrahim Zolfakari said Tehran would retaliate against U.S.-linked assets in the Gulf if Iran’s energy networks were attacked. “If Iran’s fuel and energy infrastructure is attacked by an enemy, in line with previous warnings, all energy infrastructure belonging to the United States and regimes in the region, as well as information technology… and desalination facilities will be targeted,” he said.
