Will Pam Bondi’s congressional hearings take place after Trump fires her? Latest news on the status of her deposition

US President Donald Trump removed from office Pam Bundy On Thursday, April 2, she was relieved of her duties and Todd Blanche was appointed acting attorney general. Just hours after Bundy was abruptly fired, concerns are growing over whether Bundy will still face a congressional hearing scheduled for April 14.

Early indications from lawmakers are that firing her may not prevent her from testifying under oath.

Members who voted to subpoena Bondi said Thursday that she will still be asked to testify before the House Oversight Committee as planned, even though a majority of the panel said the issue remains up for debate.

Congress says hearings may continue

for her handling of Justice Department files on convicted sex offenders Jeffrey EpsteinBundy has since come under fire from congressional investigators from both parties.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) said in a statement that she “severely damaged President Trump with her horrific handling of the Epstein dossier.” Even other Republicans applauded her departure Thursday.

Some senior Democrats have also vowed to force her to testify, arguing that removal would not negate Congress’ authority.

“She [Bondi] There will be no evasion of responsibility and there will still be a legal obligation to appear before our committees under oath. She must be held accountable for the mishandling of the Epstein file and the special treatment given to Ghislaine Maxwell. “

Other Democrats on the panel made similar remarks, including Reps. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.), Subrahmanyam (D-Va.) and Summer Lee (D-Pa.).

Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) added, “Bundi still must answer to Congress about the remaining documents, why we don’t have new indictments, and why she participated in the cover-up.”

Oversight Committee Chairman did not give a clear answer

The Oversight Committee voted in March to subpoena Bundy, a move spearheaded by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) and supported by all Democrats on the panel and four other Republicans.

However, Axios reported that Kentucky Republican James Comer was more ambivalent about the subpoena. He thinks the committee can turn that around.

A spokesperson for the Oversight Committee Chairman said, “With Pam Bondi no longer serving as Attorney General, Chairman Cuomo will discuss the status of the deposition subpoenas with Republican members and the Department of Justice and discuss next steps.”

Bundy has not publicly confirmed whether she will comply with the subpoena. However, her testimony may continue to be a key flashpoint in the investigation into the Epstein files as congressional leaders signal firm intent.
