Why hasn’t Mitchell Stark joined DC yet? Alyssa Healy’s blunt response

Injuries have started to change the plans of several teams ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League season, with some key players unavailable at the start of the campaign. The biggest concern is the absence of Australia’s fast bowlers Mitchell Stark, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewoodall are expected to miss at least the opening stages. While Hazlewood has been in touch with Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad are monitoring Cummins’ recovery, the situation surrounding Starc remains uncertain. According to head coach Daniel Vettori, a decision on Cummins’ availability will be made in the next 10 to 12 days. In contrast, the timetable for Starc’s return remains unclear, with Delhi Capitals awaiting approval from Cricket Australia. The uncertainty surrounding Starc prompted reactions from fans, including one who questioned his absence after seeing him on social media with his wife Alyssa Healy and other athletes on the golf course.

Alyssa Healy responds to fans

The fan wrote: “This is so unfair to us Delhi Capitals fans, Hazlewood and Cummins can still play for their team despite injuries but you won’t.” Healy responded sharply, defending Stark’s situation. “Probably because he’s injured, man… if he can’t bowl, how is he going to bowl?!” She added, “If he was completely healthy, he would be there.” Much of Delhi Capitals’ bowling strategy has been built around Starc’s pace and ability with the new ball, and his absence has forced the team to re-evaluate their plans. Despite the setback, the team believes it has enough depth to compete, combining veteran players with new players. Last season, Delhi Capitals started strong with four consecutive wins but then lost momentum and ended up in fifth place, missing out on the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year. As IPL 2026 begins on March 28, Delhi will aim to close out the campaign and ultimately push for their first title, although they have dealt with early challenges in the absence of key players.
