“She’s almost home,” her husband, Joey Amor, said Tuesday, March 3, from their home in Minnesota. “You don’t expect things to happen when you go to Kuwait, and for her to be the first to happen, it’s heartbreaking.”
Just a week before the attack, Amor was moved to an undefended container-like building outside the base, her husband said. “They are spreading out because they fear their bases will be attacked and they feel safer in small groups in different locations,” he said.
Joy said he last spoke to Amor two hours before she was killed. He said she worked a long shift and recalled they had been sending messages the night before about her tripping and falling.
