Maurice Shelmon, aka Ant Jefe, has reportedly been arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department on a felony murder charge, TMZ reports. The No Jumper podcaster and rapper has become famous through his YouTube videos, music and podcasts. The No Jumper host reacted on-air after news of the arrest broke, expressing shock as he spoke about his recent online success and growing platform.

Maurice Shelmon, better known online as Ant Jefe, was reportedly arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department on May 19 on suspicion of felony murder. According to TMZ, Shermon is being held on $1 million bail by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Unit. The report quickly spread online as Ant Jefe has become a familiar face over the past few years through podcasts and YouTube content. The arrest also came as a surprise to fans of the No Jumper podcast, where Ant Jefe regularly appears. In addition to the podcast, Shermon has built an audience through reaction videos, music releases and social media interviews. Some of his songs include “In a Benz,” “In the Ghetto,” and “Cali Dreaming.” In a 2024 interview with the Rich At Heart podcast, Ant Jefe explained how his YouTube journey began unexpectedly. “Yeah, it was accidental. So if you look at the profile, or when my channel was created, it was created by my nephew in 2021,” he said. He went on to explain that he plans to focus on music after leaving federal prison. “I already knew that when I got out of jail, at the FBI, I was going to listen to some music,” he said in the interview. Ant Jefe also said that he didn’t actively use the channel until 2023 when he uploaded his first music video titled “Unruly.” Since then, his online audience has grown through music and podcast appearances. After news of the arrest was revealed, the No Jumper host reacted during a live broadcast reported by USA Today. One host, Mooseman, said, “He said, sir, I’m just a podcaster, a YouTuber, I’m aloof. So it’s really frustrating to see that.” Another presenter spoke of Ant Jefe’s recent online success, adding: “He’s given me a lot of advice on YouTube and shown me how much money he makes on YouTube and how he’s crazy about it.” The live stream host also mentioned that they could not immediately confirm details about the charges through the court system. A spokesman said the situation was “shocking” and said the arrest was unexpected as Ant Jeff had recently been talking about improving his lifestyle and career.
