Uber Technologies has appointed Indian-born Balaji Krishnamurthy as its new chief financial officer (CFO). He has been with the company for six years and currently serves as vice president of strategic finance and investor relations. According to reports, he will succeed Prashanth Mahendra-Rajah in this new role from February 16.
He is a strong supporter of the company’s self-driving ride-hailing program. During the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call, Krishnamurti said Uber would invest in AV software partners.
“After five years of 20%-plus growth, we will enter 2026 with strong momentum while remaining firmly on track to achieve our three-year growth and profit outlook,” incoming chief financial officer Balaji Krishnamurthy said in a statement.
He added: “With large and growing free cash flow, we will invest rigorously in numerous opportunities over the next few years, including positioning Uber to win in a self-driving future.“

Krishnamurthy started his career as a regional manager and then as a research analyst. He served as a vice president at Goldman Sachs for eight years.
He joined Uber in 2019 as a senior manager and was recently named the company’s chief financial officer.
