Another voice within the “Big Three” artificial intelligence labs has expressed concerns about the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) following the recent resignation of Anthropic’s head of security. Mrinank Sharma, Anthropic’s head of AI security, recently announced his departure from the company in a tweet.
“I constantly find myself thinking about our situation. The world is in danger. Not just from artificial intelligence or bioweapons, but from a series of interconnected crises unfolding at this moment. We seem to be approaching a threshold where our intelligence must grow in equal measure with our ability to impact the world, or we will face the consequences,” Sharma said in his post.
The post sparked a range of reactions on social media. While some agreed with Pham, others were curious about his experiences with artificial intelligence while working at xAI and OpenAI. However, some dismissed his concerns and shared their own thoughts on AI advancements.
One asked, “What do you see, bro?” Another said, “AI doesn’t eliminate purpose, it compresses impact. The question is not, ‘What will humans do?'” The question is, ‘What will humans choose to build when constraints disappear? ‘”

According to his LinkedIn profile, he earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Stanford University. He also holds a PhD in machine learning from Carnegie Mellon University.
He started his career as a research intern at Baidu US and then found a job at Google Artificial Intelligence. In 2024, he joined Elon Musk’s xAI and worked there for about a year. He joined his current company, OpenAI, in 2025 and has been working there for 7 months.
