Officials say the move encourages companies to proactively respond to workplace Before the risk escalates to a serious breach or injury. The focus is on helping employers better understand safety standards and develop effective health and safety plans.
OSHA Cares marks a shift from a strictly enforcement-driven model to one that balances compliance and collaboration. As part of the outreach, OSHA is expanding access to compliance assistance experts and increasing the availability of education and training resources.

Inspectors also hope to provide more real-time guidance during on-site inspections and provide on-site suggestions to help companies quickly correct hidden dangers.
Additionally, the agency has updated workplace safety posters to promote the shared responsibility of employers and workers in identifying and responding to risks.
While the program introduces new support measures, OSHA’s core functions remain the same. The agency will continue to conduct inspections, issue citations and enforce safety regulations at most private sector workplaces.
OSHA’s widely used 10-hour training program will also remain. It is designed as an entry-level course to introduce workers to common hazards such as fall risks, electrical hazards and the proper use of protective equipment.

OSHA does not provide formal certification. Instead, workers who complete a 10- or 30-hour training course receive a completion card through an authorized provider. Employers still have a responsibility to provide job-specific safety training.
Officials told the publication that employers can learn more about OSHA Cares and available resources through OSHA’s official website, which centralizes details about compliance assistance and training.
The OSHA Cares initiative is designed to promote the reduction of workplace injuries through early intervention and collaboration, rather than relying solely on penalties.
