Passenger Jack Cabot, 22, said the flight was uneventful until the final pull-in, the New York Post reported.

“It felt like landing right away,” he said, recalling how the plane’s descent suddenly became alarming. “There was an unbelievable loud bang. It was a very, very hard landing.”

The Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft, operated by Air Canada, arrived from Montreal and was traveling at high speed on the runway when it collided with a Port Authority fire truck that was responding to an unrelated emergency.

‘There was blood everywhere’ in the cabin

Cabot described the aftermath as chaotic and distressing. “I saw blood everywhere,” he said, noting that the passenger sitting next to him had facial injuries and was bleeding profusely.

Passengers seated near the front of the plane were reportedly trapped and required assistance, with the evacuation taking nearly two hours.

One detail cited in the report is that a flight attendant was thrown a considerable distance from the plane but remained strapped into a jump seat.

“People share coats”

Cabot said despite the situation, passengers came together to help each other.

“There are some people who really stepped up… and they organized themselves into a group,” he said. “People were sharing coats. One person was using a mask to wipe the blood off another person’s face.”

He also recalled a young girl traveling alone who was comforted by an older woman who stayed by her side throughout the ordeal.

“There’s always some humanity. People always try their best,” Cabot added.

“I don’t want this to get in the way of my life.”

Cabot, who suffered a whiplash and is awaiting confirmation of a possible concussion, called himself lucky compared to others with more serious injuries.

“Plane crashes don’t happen every day,” he said, adding that he planned to fly again soon. “I don’t want this to get in the way of my life.”
