New Delhi: A West Bengal police officer (BLO) and his associates have been arrested for allegedly murdering a man, whose wife, according to police, was related to the BLO. On Saturday, a day after the arrest of Rizwan Hasan Mondal and his accomplice Sagar Gyne, the two were arrested after the mutilated body of 30-year-old Nasir Ali was found in a canal in Baduria in North 24 Parganas district, a police officer said.“Preliminary investigation revealed that Mondal was having an extra-marital relationship with Ali’s wife. He asked the deceased to meet him at a deserted place on Monday night on the pretext of discussing some issues related to the ongoing special intensive revision of electoral rolls in West Bengal,” the police officer told PTI.Ali was reported missing since Monday night and his family reported the case to police the next day.Police traced Mondal’s calls and movements and found body parts in the canal on Friday.BLO was interrogated and later arrested for murdering Ali and dumping the victim’s bodies, which were found in three different places in the canal.Mondal’s associate Jean was arrested on suspicion of assisting him in the murder, dismemberment and dumping of body parts.Locals blocked roads in the area for about half an hour, demanding justice. They broke off the riot after being persuaded by the police.
