A fire broke out at an industrial park in southern Israel on Sunday, which the Israeli military said may have been caused by shrapnel from a new round of missiles launched by Iran. The impact occurred in the industrial area of Nyotkhovav in the Negev desert, sending thick black smoke into the sky, according to the military. Authorities said the fire could have been started by a direct munitions strike or fragments of an intercepted missile.Police confirmed emergency teams were searching the area for more debris while working to eliminate any further risk to the public.Later in the day, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for a missile attack on an industrial facility in southern Israel.Video from the scene showed a heavily damaged warehouse engulfed in smoke as firefighters battled the blaze. Fire brigade commander Eyal Kaspi said the situation was under control and expected to be fully contained within hours.Local authorities declared the incident hazardous and instructed workers in the area to remain in protected areas. Nearby residents were also advised to stay indoors due to concerns about potential toxic leaks.Soroka Hospital in Beersheba reported treating six people with minor injuries following the incident. The Israeli military said at least seven missiles had been launched from Iran toward Israeli territory since midnight and activated its air defense systems to intercept the threat.Neot Hovav Industrial Zone is located approximately 12 kilometers from Beersheba and houses more than 40 factories focusing on environmental technologies and industrial infrastructure. This is the second reported attack on industrial facilities in Israel since the United States and Israel launched a joint escalation of hostilities against Iran on February 28.
