A storage tank caught fire at a facility run by Bapco Energies, the country’s largest refinery, after an Iranian missile attack on Sunday.Iranian state media shared video on social media of the moment the facility exploded and caught fire. The 10-second clip shows the explosion followed by black smoke and flames billowing from the scene.
In a statement cited by Al-Arabiya, the company confirmed the fire was under control and the damage was being assessed.Separately, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said it sounded an alert early Sunday, urging citizens and residents to remain calm and go to the nearest safe location.
The place was targeted in a similar manner last month. The fire was also brought under control and no casualties were reported. The incident comes amid a widening conflict between the United States and Israel with Iran, with Tehran launching attacks on Israel and parts of the Gulf region. As tensions continue to escalate, Iran has mocked a “miserable” US effort to rescue a second F-15 crew member missing after Tehran shot down a plane south of Isfahan. According to the Iranian News Agency, Ibrahim Zolfagari, spokesman for Iran’s Hatam Anbia Central Headquarters, said that the incident exposed “the hollow nature of the U.S. military and the humiliating failure of its forces.”“According to Press TV, Zolfagari said that the Iranian army shot down a C-130 class aircraft involved in the operation.
