New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday announced the appointment of Vikram K Doraiswami as the next Ambassador of India to the People’s Republic of China. Doraiswamy is an Indian diplomat who was appointed in 1992 and currently serves as India’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. According to MEA, he “is expected to accept the assignment soon.“The appointment comes as India and China continue to engage in diplomatic engagement on bilateral issues, including border and trade-related issues.Doraiswamy has previously served on a number of important diplomatic assignments and is considered an experienced official in the foreign service.
