VHP hits back at NBCC, says RSS link on Nagaland church dispute ‘misplaced’

Vishwa Hindu Parish (VHP) on Wednesday criticized the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC)’s statement accusing the Assam Rifles of attacking a church in Nagaland, saying the remarks were against RSS VHP is “misplaced” and could cause divisions in society.The NBCC condemned the late-night action at Samziuram Baptist Church in Perun district on March 9, saying it violated religious sanctity and in its statement accused organizations like the RSS and VHP of promoting and justifying violence.Alok Kumar, president of VHP International, said NBCC’s reference to the RSS and VHP was “completely taken out of context” as neither organization played any role in the incident. He described the remarks as an attempt to “create animosity between different sections of society.”Kumar also cited local input, claiming that the village administration and pastor said there was no harassment or damage during the security operation.He said the RSS and VHP were “law-abiding and patriotic organizations” engaged in social services, especially to marginalized communities.The VHP called NBCC’s statement “mischievous and dishonest,” urging all parties to exercise restraint and warning against turning security-related incidents into religious or ideological disputes.
