Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Dhami lays foundation stone for 34 projects worth Rs 234 crore for Kumbh Mela 2027 | India News

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami arrived in Haridwar on Saturday to review preparations for the Kumbh Mela 2027. After arriving at the Kumbh Mela Control Complex (CCR), the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of 34 major infrastructure projects approved by the state government for Kumbh Mela 2027. Estimated to cost Rs 234.55 crore, these permanent developments are aimed at ensuring the success, safety and well-organisation of the Kumbh Mela while enhancing the long-term development of Haridwar city.Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said in an interview with the media, “All preparations are in progress. After the completion of the Chardham Yatra in 2025, we immediately started preparations for the Chardham Yatra in 2026 and many rounds of meetings have been held. We also meet regularly with stakeholders and take advice from all those involved in organizing the pilgrimage. “He further said, “The pilgrimage this time is a little ahead of schedule. It is expected to open in April, when schools are on vacation and there will be a lot of foot traffic. Therefore, we are making all arrangements to ensure that tourists have a positive pilgrimage experience… A review meeting of the Kumbh Mela 2027 was held today to lay the foundation stone for a project worth about Rs 250 crore.”Dhami added: “All work must be completed on time. All arrangements for the Kumbh Mela must be carefully organized and everyone must participate. All departments must cooperate with each other.”Meanwhile, in view of the Kumbh Mela being held in Haridwar next year, the Mehra government is making extensive preparations to ensure convenience, safety and smooth movement of devotees from across the country.In view of the likely influx of pilgrims via railways during the Kumbh Mela, ground work has been intensified to provide additional facilities and necessary arrangements at Haridwar and other nearby railway stations.In this regard, mela officer Sonika along with officials of the mela government and railways conducted a detailed inspection of the Haridwar railway station to review the arrangements and facilities proposed by the railways for the big pot mela.
