US President Donald Trump said no final agreement on the nuclear deal had been reached after a three-hour meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and warned Iran of the consequences if talks failed. Trump said in an article published in Truth Social that he insisted to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a White House meeting on Wednesday that negotiations with Iran continue.“It was a very good meeting and the great relationship between our two countries continues,” Trump said in a social media post. “There has been no clear agreement other than my insistence that negotiations with Iran continue to see if a deal can be completed.Trump also cited past U.S. military actions against Iran, warning of consequences if negotiations failed.“The last time Iran decided it was better not to make a deal, they got hit with Midnight Hammer – which didn’t work out well for them,” he said, referring to the June 2025 U.S. attack on three of Iran’s main nuclear facilities.“Hopefully this time they will be more rational and responsible,” he added. The US president said the leaders also discussed the war in Gaza and broader developments in the Middle East. In June, Iran continued to be troubled by a 12-day war with Israel after a series of air strikes, including U.S. bombings of multiple Iranian nuclear facilities, killed nearly 1,000 people in Iran and nearly 40 in Israel.Israel has long called on Iran to halt all uranium enrichment activities, withdraw its ballistic missile program and cut ties with militant groups in the region. Iran has always rejected the demands, saying it would only accept some restrictions on its nuclear program in exchange for lifting sanctions. Washington has built up a military presence in the region, sending an aircraft carrier, guided missile destroyers, air defense assets and more to supplement its presence. Arab and Islamic countries, including Turkey and Qatar, urged both sides to exercise restraint and warned that any attacks or reprisals could have destabilizing consequences in a region tense over Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza.
