US Central Command: ‘We will use force’: New audio captures US Navy’s final warning to ships entering and leaving Iranian ports during blockade

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) on Wednesday released an audio message from the U.S. Navy warning ships not to attempt to breach the ongoing blockade of Iranian ports.U.S. Central Command said in a post on X that U.S. Navy ships are actively patrolling the Gulf of Oman as part of the blockade. “The United States military is present, vigilant, and prepared to ensure compliance,” the statement said.

WATCH: US Navy warns ships in Gulf not to violate Hormuz blockade

The audio message, purportedly broadcast to ships in the area, warned: “The United States has announced a formal blockade of Iranian ports and coastal areas… Do not attempt to breach the blockade. Vessels will be boarded, intercepted and seized.”It further warned that ships must “turn around and prepare to board,” adding, “If you do not comply with this blockade, we will use force. The entire U.S. Navy is ready to compel you to comply.”

Blockade enforcement steps up

The development comes as the United States steps up enforcement of a naval blockade imposed earlier this week. The USS Spruance (DDG 111) recently forced an Iranian-flagged cargo ship to turn back after trying to evade restrictions.Centcom said at least 10 vessels had been diverted, with “zero” breaching the blockade since it was launched. The operation is aimed at cutting off maritime trade routes to Iran and effectively isolating its economy. The blockade spans major waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman, with U.S. forces controlling shipping in and out of Iranian ports. The warning comes as tensions rise in the Middle East, even as diplomatic efforts continue. Iran has threatened to halt trade in the Gulf if the blockade is not lifted, signaling the risk of further escalation.Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said the conflict could be “very close to being over” and talks could resume soon.
