arch is one of the presidents of the united states Donald TrumpThis is his most personal project, as he aims to shape Washington, D.C., in his own style. Trump said it will be the greatest and most beautiful arch in the world and something Americans will enjoy for decades to come.

The White House quoted Trump as saying: “I am pleased to announce that today my administration formally submitted a presentation and plans for the world’s greatest and most beautiful Arc de Triomphe to the esteemed Council of Fine Arts. It will be a wonderful addition to Washington, D.C., for all Americans to enjoy for decades to come.”

What we know about the Arch

1. A 12-page plan released by the U.S. Council of Fine Arts shows the arch will feature a towering winged figure holding a Lady Liberty-style torch and wearing a crown, flanked by two eagles and guarded by four lions — all gilded.

2. The arch is 250 feet (76.2 meters) high from the base to the tip of the winged torch.

3. According to the plan, the building will be located between the Lincoln Memorial to the east and Arlington National Cemetery to the west, within a transportation circle connecting Washington, D.C., and northern Virginia. The arch will dwarf the 99-foot-tall (30.2-meter) Lincoln Memorial.

4. The Arch is one of several architectural changes Trump has pursued during his second term. In addition to plans to build a large ballroom at the White House, he also remodeled the Oval Office and transformed the Rose Garden into a stone-covered terrace.

5. The project extends beyond the White House, giving Trump the opportunity to leave another lasting monument in a city known for its iconic architecture. It builds on his earlier proposals to transform Washington, D.C., including replacing what he called “tired” grass, broken signage and neglected street medians.
