The article attracted criticism, including from the Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley.Polanski said in a statement that he regretted sharing the post and acknowledged it was posted without proper consideration.“In such a tense moment, everyone in leadership has a responsibility to de-escalate the situation, and I apologize for hastily sharing a tweet,” he said.He added that while police conduct could be scrutinized, social media was not the right place to raise such concerns.“The police response to emergencies such as this does need to be reflected on later in the right forum, but I accept that social media is not the appropriate channel to do that,” he said.Polanski also said he has contacted Rowley to discuss the issue further.“I have invited Mark Rowley to meet with me to discuss the police response and the wider issues raised,” he added. The incident relates to the police response to the stabbing of Golders Green, which is being treated as a terror case. The Metropolitan Police has not made any further comment on the matter.
