With the start of Ramadan, the UAE has announced the release of prisoners across the country, with 1,440 prisoners set to leave correctional institutions under presidential directives. The move also includes addressing financial penalties associated with sentences. President His Highness Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan ordered the release of 1,440 prisoners in correctional institutions across the country. Prisoners were sentenced in separate cases. In addition to the release order, Sheikh Mohammed also promised to address their financial obligations in carrying out these sentences. The initiative was launched to mark the start of Ramadan. It aims to provide prisoners with the opportunity to start a new chapter in their lives, while alleviating the difficulties faced by their families and supporting their stability during the Holy Month. Emirati leaders typically announce such releases on special occasions and religious holidays. In Ajman, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi ordered the release of 134 prisoners in the emirate’s correctional and penal institutions. Separately, in Fujairah, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi has ordered the release of 125 prisoners in penal and correctional institutions.
