The UAE has issued a stern warning against the illegal recruitment of domestic workers, with authorities making it clear that unlicensed activities will face immediate and severe consequences. The move aims to strengthen labor market regulation while protecting workers and customers from legal and financial risks. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratis (MoHRE) said it will not tolerate any entity recruiting domestic workers without obtaining the required licenses. The authorities said they would take strict legal, administrative and financial measures against violators. In accordance with the laws in force across the country, these actions may escalate to the immediate closure of the offending entity and referral to the competent judicial authorities. The ministry detailed that operating without a license constitutes a clear violation of the law. Penalties include closure of the offending office, immediate suspension of its business activities, and legal proceedings. Depending on the nature of the crime, the case may be referred to criminal and civil proceedings. In addition to these steps, violators may face substantial financial penalties, with substantial fines being part of the enforcement process. MoHRE also urges customers to exercise caution and deal only with licensed and officially recognized offices. It advises the public to verify the credibility of any recruiting entity through approved official channels before entering into a contract. The ministry noted that this is crucial to safeguard individual rights and avoid unintended legal consequences. As part of its ongoing advocacy efforts, the ministry calls on the public to comply with existing regulations and report any illegal recruitment practices. The move is aimed at strengthening regulation, supporting social protection and ensuring the labor market is properly regulated.
