UAE issues fraud alert: Ministry warns against counterfeit calls and data theft | World News

UAE residents should be aware of an increase in scam calls, in which imposters impersonate officials to steal personal data. The Home Office has denied any connection with suspicious numbers such as 70614213 and urged the public not to share sensitive information.

Residents across the UAE are being urged to remain vigilant after a surge in suspicious calls involving people impersonating officials to obtain personal data. The Interior Ministry issued a warning on Sunday to distance itself from such activities and advised the public not to engage in such communications.

Ministry denies links to suspicious numbers

In a statement released on Sunday, the department clarified that it had no contact with the call from the number 70614213 or any similar number.It vehemently denies any connection between itself or its affiliates and communications conducted through the number. Officials confirmed that such calls were fraudulent and involved impersonation tactics and electronic fraud schemes designed to extract sensitive information.

Appealing to the public not to share personal information

Residents are advised not to answer suspicious calls or interact with unknown callers. The ministry specifically warns against disclosing sensitive details, including:

  • National ID number
  • ID number, including QID number
  • Verification code
  • individual or Bank details

The authorities reiterated that official agencies will never request personal or banking information via phone calls, text messages or unknown links.

Source of fraud is being traced

The ministry said it was tracing the sources behind the fraudulent communications. Legal measures will be taken against those responsible.Officials stressed that individuals involved in impersonation and electronic fraud will face legal liability.

Rely on official channels

Authorities urge the public to rely only on official channels for accurate information.Residents are also urged to immediately report any suspicious activity through designated reporting platforms. The ministry stressed that timely reporting will help track down and prosecute those behind the fraud attempts.
