‘Tulsi Gabbard will resign next’: Laura Loomer reacts after counterterrorism chief Joe Kent resigns over Iran war

A quarrel broke out internally Donald TrumpThe US support base has been hit after a top intelligence official resigned over the ongoing war with Iran, prompting MAGA commentator Laura Loomer to claim more exits are likely.Loomer responded to the news on X, “Notorious leaker Joe Kent just resigned as director of the National Counterterrorism Center. Kent expressed Tulsi Gabbard. I’ve been warning you about Joe Kent for a long time. I predict Tulsi Gabbard will resign next. “Prior to this, Joe Kent, the head of the National Counterterrorism Center, resigned due to his strong opposition to the United States’ decision to go to war with Iran. “I cannot in good conscience support Iran’s ongoing war,” Kent wrote in his resignation letter. “Iran poses no imminent threat to our country and it is clear that we are waging this war under pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.”His withdrawal marks one of the most high-profile internal criticisms of the war to date and exposes divisions within Trump’s political base. US President Donald Trump dismissed Kent’s stance, calling his resignation a “good thing” and saying he was “very weak on security.” Trump added, “When you have people working with us who say they don’t think Iran is a threat, we don’t need those people. They’re not smart people, or they’re not savvy people.”The conflict itself began after U.S. attacks on Iranian targets in late February 2026, an action the administration deemed necessary to counter an imminent threat. That claim has been disputed, however, with Pentagon briefings to lawmakers suggesting Iran would not plan an attack unless provoked.Loomer used the opportunity to escalate his criticism of Kent and others associated with him. She claimed Kent was aligned with figures such as Tucker Carlson and accused him of leaking internal discussions. She also linked his resignation to broader tensions within the intelligence community, including developments involving Tulsi Gabbard, who is scheduled to testify before a congressional intelligence panel. Her post went a step further, claiming there were ideological divisions within the administration and accusing several figures of undermining Trump’s agenda.
