Trump’s White House ballroom plan features bomb shelter, surprising ‘top secret’ feature

He called the ballroom a long-overdue addition and claimed that U.S. presidents have wanted such a space for more than 150 years.

He also listed “protective missile defense steel,” “drone-proof ceilings” and “ballistic, ballistic and blast-proof glass” as measures necessary to ensure the safety of future presidents and world leaders during major events.

Trump claimed that without these upgrades, the White House would lack a “safe and secure large conference venue” to host the inauguration and global summits.

He also insisted that the ballroom was “built ahead of schedule and on budget,” adding that most of the materials had been paid for and were ready to be installed.

“Probably not a good sign that our leaders have begun preparing for life underground,” one user wrote. Others described the plans as “disturbing,” specifically mentioning “state-of-the-art hospitals” and heavily guarded infrastructure.

Some social media users also raised concerns about priorities, questioning why such a massive investment was being directed toward a ballroom project rather than addressing the needs of the public.

It’s unclear when construction could resume as legal challenges continue to hamper the project. However, Trump described ballrooms as “very important” to national security and said he intended to move forward with the process.
