The proposal comes amid ongoing political tension over immigration policy. The Trump administration has focused on border security and a stricter crackdown on illegal immigration. Meanwhile, some Democrats continue to push in the opposite direction. Earlier this month, Indian-American politician Pramila Jayapal wrote on X: “ICE is not keeping us safe. It is terrorizing our communities, detaining American citizens, and letting people die in custody.
