President Donald Trump claimed in 2018 that he “looked like” Elvis Presley. Monday as he visited Graceland, the late rock icon’s Memphis estate. tennesseehis knowledge of Elvis was put to the test by a tour guide who clarified to him that the late singer did not have naturally black hair.
Trump was accompanied during the visit by Angie Marchese, Vice President of Archives and Exhibits at Graceland. When the discussion turned to Elvis’ hair color, Trump seemed surprised when he was told that Elvis was naturally blond but that he dyed his hair black.
“Elvis’ natural hair color was blond. Blonde hair, blue eyes,” Marchese said. In response, Trump said: “Really?”
Later, a visibly surprised president was explained: “He dyed his hair black because he thought it would show off his facial features in the movie.” After hearing the explanation, Trump looked even more surprised and said, “Wow!”
Here’s the interaction that’s now going viral on social media.
This isn’t the first time Donald Trump has been confused by Elvis Presley’s hair color. Back in 2018, Trump claimed at a rally in Tupelo, Mississippi, the birthplace of Elvis, that someone told Trump he looked like Elvis growing up “except for the blond hair.”

“I shouldn’t say this — you’re going to say I’m conceited because I’m not — but, besides the blond hair, when I was growing up, they said I looked like Elvis,” Trump said. “I always thought that was a great compliment. We loved Elvis. In fact, we just awarded Elvis the Medal of Freedom at the White House.”
Trump held a Memphis Safety Task Force roundtable during his visit to Memphis, highlighting efforts to reduce violent crime in the city. The visit is also seen as part of a broader political push to highlight law and order issues ahead of upcoming elections, Reuters reported.

Even at the roundtable, Trump seemed excited and said he was going to visit Graceland next. He expressed his fondness for Elvis, saying he “loved” him, and went on to discuss his favorite Elvis tracks with reporters.
“I love Elvis. I’ve never met Elvis. Everybody’s like, ‘Really?'” Trump said. “I met Sinatra. I knew them all. I never met Elvis. Sometimes I feel like I should tell a little lie and say I knew him.”
When he entered Graceland, he told reporters that this was his first time in Graceland.
