President of the United States Donald Trump It said late on Monday that recovering uranium from Iran would be a “long and difficult process” following last year’s U.S. attack on Tehran’s nuclear facilities.“Operation Midnight Hammer completely destroyed Iran’s nuclear fallout base,” Trump posted on Truth Social. He added: “So it will be a long and difficult process to unearth it.“Trump also criticized parts of the U.S. media, writing, “Fake News CNN and other corrupt media networks and platforms that fail to give our great pilots the credit they deserve – always seek to belittle and disparage – losers!!!”The U.S. president often uses the term “nuclear fallout” to describe Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium, which Washington claims Tehran accumulated as part of its effort to build an atomic bomb. Trump also sometimes uses the term to refer to the debris and residual material left behind after a U.S. attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.Trump has repeatedly insisted that Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium will eventually be transferred to U.S. soil, although Tehran has steadfastly rejected any such proposal. Iran’s foreign ministry denied plans to hand over the materials. On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a coordinated strike against Iran, targeting facilities related to Tehran’s nuclear program. Israel says the military action is necessary to eliminate the “existential threat” posed by the Islamic Republic.Israeli officials have since claimed that Iran accelerated its efforts to acquire atomic weapons after the 12-day war ended last June. The conflict began with Israeli attacks and later U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, including a uranium enrichment plant. Trump told PBS News that Iran “should be present” at the talks in Pakistan. “We agreed to go there,” he said, warning that if the ceasefire expired, “then a lot of bombs will start going off.”
